There’ll be a theme! FHFH past fundraisers and its new projects
The theme of the Brazilian night is “Bahia” and the dress code will be white attire. The benefits of the event will go to a community school in Haiti and its 135 students, Haiti overall will benefit and also individual houses that have been damaged by the earthquake. This event has been happening for 4 years and has had different goals and purposes which have helped the island as much as possible. In past years, FHFH has raised funds to pay for teachers’ salaries, build new classrooms and bathrooms install water tanks and filters, provide solar power lamps and purchase school materials for 135 students. After Hurricane Mathew struck Île-à-Vache in 2016, 64 homes have been fixed and rebuild.
The proceeds from the event are going to be used to build a solar-powered computer center which will fulfill the dual purpose of servicing the community as well as the 135 students at Êcole du Village. In order to keep the center operating in the evening, it needs a reliable source of energy. In consultation with the local community, we have determined that the most viable option is a solar powered system taking advantage of the year-round intense sunshine on the island.
